Girls Night!

On Saturday I went out on a much needed girls night! It was so much fun and I had a great time drinking cocktails and taking shots!

My outfit consisted of a Barbie skirt and white tank top from Karma Clothing and heeled boots from Boohoo! So all in all it was a pretty cheap and cheerful outfit! The rest of the girls all looked gorgeous and we completely rocked Tacky Accy!

Throwback Friday: Mac Cosmetics, Disney's Venomous Villians

2010, the year I got my first Mac lipstick. It was my 19th birthday and a package arrived at my front door from my best friend. Inside was Mac packaging and inside that packaging was the most perfect present I think I've ever received.

Mac brought out Disney's Venomous Villians collection a few months before my birthday. I'd seen photos all over
the internet and it was all I'd ever wanted in a makeup collection but being Mac it was too expensive for me, that's why I was so unbelievabley happy when it suddenly appeared unexpectedly at my front door. I even still have the lipstick now, although it's used pretty much all the way down, it's honestly my favourite lipstick. Although the collection came out in 2010, it's still my favourite of all time. After doing a lot of searching I've found it's still available online, and at quite cheap prices. Ebay obviously is the go to for this. So you should definitely check it out.

For this line Mac took inspiration from Disney's best villians - Maleficent and Cruella De Ville where the main inspiration but it also saw appearances from the Evil Queen and Dr. Facilier. The line used a lot of dark reds and purples for the lipsticks, nail polishes and eye-shadows with face powders and foundation being very pale (much like the Disney Villians themselves). It was a gorgeous line and I haven't seen one from Mac that I've ever liked so much. All I wish is that they would bring out a Disney Princess line - because we all want to be princesses really.

I've now got myself all excited about this line so I'm going to do some online shopping to see if I can find a bargain! I urge you all to do the same!

Does anybody remember this line? What did you think?

OOTD 24/4/2013

I suck at OOTD's because I can never get my camera angle right even with a tripod. You don't know the amounts of times that I've tried and it's just so hard. I suck so much. So this will have to do. You'll have to use your imagination.

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer

Collection 2000's Lasting Perfect Concealer is such a must have in every girl's makeup case that it's almost not even worth blogging about because EVERYBODY has it. Saying that though, I was late jumping on this perfect band-wagon so if you're like me, or you still haven't got it, here is a cute little review!

I cannot express how much you need to buy this if you haven't already got it. It's only about £2.99 and it's just so fantastic I can't believe I ever lived without it. It's a lovely, thick concealer that does a fantastic job of hiding imperfections without making your makeup look cakey.

From the Collection 2000 website:

- Ultimate wear concealer conceals flaws, imperfections and blemishes for up to 16 hours.

- Transfer proof and water resistant for full and long lasting coverage.

- Provides beautiful, shine-free, blemish-free skin for every waking hour.

It comes in four shades: deep, medium, light & fair. I opted for light because well it was the only one left in the shop (I prayed that I could get away with it as I'd normally have chosen fair) but it's an almost perfect match on my face and it's basically the same colour as my foundation. My favourite part of this concealer is how easily blend-able it is with the rest of my makeup. It looks so natural and hides away all the things I hate about my face!

I really love this concealer and have worn it every day since I've had it. I've even been wearing it on my none-made over face for a more natural look. It's so easy to apply with the little brush and honestly I just think you need to go out and buy it because it's just great!

Do you have this concealer?

1. The Libertines
2. The Smiths
3. The Editors
4. Arctic Monkeys
5. The Strokes
6. The Courteeners
7. The Sex Pistols
8. The Vaccines
9. David Bowie (not a band but who cares)
10. Hole

3. What is the most played song in your iTunes?
I don't have Itunes but according to my LASTFM account it's Bright Eyes - Lua

4. What was the last album you bought?
Me and my Mother bought David Bowies Greatest Hits last weekend :3

5. What song can you not get out of your head?
Jealous, don't you know - The Heartbreaks

6. What was the last single you downloaded?
I don't download music. I listen to everything on Spotify. So I don't have an answer for this :(

7. What is your favourite band right now?
Probably The Heartbreaks :3 but this was hard. I hate choosing favourites!

8. What is your favourite type of music?
I LOVE everything. Well no, not everything. I don't listen to RnB or rap or anything like that - not my style. I prefer rock music but not like cheesy 00's rock but like 70's/80's rock. I'm also a massive indie fan, and I guess that's what I listen to most. But I also like listening to music in the pop-charts specifically anything girly like Taylor Swift or Ke$ha (I LOVE KE$HA). I also went through a stage of only listening to crap American pop-punk but not so much anymore. I can't give you a definitive answer for this because I love all sorts of different music.

9. In your 25 Most Played list, what is #10?
Spector - Twenty Nothing

10. What was the first gig you ever went to?
I saw Lostprophets in about 2003! Back when they were good and the lead singer wasn't in jail for being a paedophile.

11. What was the best gig you've ever been to?
Gah I cannot choose. This is unfair. Maybe when I went to see The Vaccines/Miles Kane/The Arctic Monkeys in Sheffield. It was such a massive event, like a mini festival and I was so happy!

12. And finally, if there was one band/album/song you would recommend everyone listening to RIGHT NOW, what would it be?
Nobody likes the same sort of music as I do :( but maybe Bright Eyes - great for when you're feeling sad. Definitely listen to First Day Of My Life. Such a cute song.

I TAG EVERYONE!

Rimmel Clear Complexion Clarifying Powder

Every girl needs a go-to powder and this little beauty is mine! I've used a lot in my time, because I'm a massive fan of matte make-up and I hate anything shiny. I personally hate when girls have a shiny foundation face. Not for me.

This powder is fantastic. It's light-weight and blends easily onto the skin giving a natural matte look. It has a "pureskin complex" which is supposed to clarify the skin and helps to minimise spot breakouts. Most powders dry out my skin which gives me red patches and spots, but with this I've had absolutely no problems. It also keeps my face shine free for a good 5 or 6 hours! It's such a good product and only costs around £3.99 so I would definitely recommend to every body!

Vivo Lipstick In Wow Pink

Vivo is Tesco's own make-up brand. I've bought a few products from them before, purely because of value for money, but I've never invested in a lipstick from them before. The lipstick I chose is called Wow Pink. It's a very bright, vibrant matte pink lipstick which only cost me a lovely £1.99.

From Vivo's website
"VIVO will not fail in it’s mission to brighten your day with amazing product without the hefty price tag! VIVO deliver solutions to your handbag to bring that touch of colour and style whilst giving you the performance you need.  From amazing baked shimmer palettes that create show stopping shimmer with shades for your eyes and cheeks to ultimate solutions with brow kits and concealer kits, that definitely wont let you down on the go.  Bringing solutions that work in a handbag is VIVO's key aim and above all is stylish and amazing value."

The lipstick itself is gorgeous, it's such a lovely pink and I think most people could get away with it. I must say though, it did look good with my pale skin! My only problem with this lipstick is that it had absolutely no staying power. I kissed my boyfriend once and had a cup of (caffeine-free) tea and all of the lipstick had come off, which was a bit annoying. I guess if you're willing to keep it with you in your bag and keep topping it up though then it's not so bad!

I'd recommend this lipstick to compliment a darker outfit or for nights out as the colour can be a bit over-whelming. It's so very, very pink!

Refreshing Toner With Cucumber Extract

Tesco - 80p!!!!

In a previous post I admitted that I never use toner on my face to help with my skin. I know, I know, I'm super lazy but for godsake toner is just so expensive sometimes it makes me want to cry. I am a student, I'm living off about £25 a week (if that) and I don't have the money to spend £5+ on something I've never felt like I needed.

WELL today, in Tesco I was scouring the aisles and picked up this little gem. Tesco's own Refreshing Toner (with cucumber extract) for only 80p. YES 80P! 80P 80P 80P! There is no way a girl can say no to 80p!

I came home, rubbed my makeup off and instantly splashed it onto my face and my god, my face feels refreshed! It's made all of my skin feel silky smooth! Lovely.

To be honest, I don't know a lot about toners - it's never, ever been apart of my skin care routine (awful I know), so I can't tell you if it's doing what it's supposed to be doing. What I can tell you is that it's helped get all of my makeup off which is great, and it's made my skin feel wonderful.

And at 80p, how can you say no to something like this?

A Post On Insecurities!

I've been thinking a lot about insecurities recently, namely my insecurities and how I feel about myself. Like many girls, I feel I have a lot wrong with me. Things I wish I could change both on the inside and mostly the outside, things I think about every day but can't change no matter how much I try.

I know a lot of girls feel like this but not many people can talk truthfully about it but I just wanted to say - I'm here for you and I completely get it.

I've always struggled with the way I've looked. I was never teased at school or anything, it was more how I felt about myself at the time - I thought about it that much, that even now that I look completely different, I still feel the same. I still feel horrible and disgusting 99.9% of the time. I grew up on the internet, on tumblr looking at all these drop dead gorgeous girls and I always wondered WHY IS THAT NOT ME?

Why is my nose so big? Why is my hair so flat? Why is my face so wide? Why am I so short? What's wrong with my chin? Why don't I look like everyone else?

The truth of the matter is, I'm never going to look like I want to, so why not embrace it? I've tried, trust me I've tried but it's ending up with me masking my face in layers and layers of makeup. If someone sees me without makeup, they don't realise it's me. I've literally been drawing my face on these last 2 years out of insecurity. It's not healthy.

But that's just it - I've realised IT'S NOT HEALTHY. For anyone. For me, or for you. Most of us feel insecure when we are reading magazines or looking at photos of other girls. But just look at yourself! You're probably led on your bed, in your pyjamas, with your hair up in a scruffy bun and wearing no makeup. No wonder we feel like crap if we are comparing ourselves to other girls when we are chilling out in our rooms. We haven't got makeup on and we haven't been excessively photo-shopped. This is something I have to keep telling myself. Nobody looks like that in real life, so why keep comparing myself to something that doesn't exist without the aid of computer magic?

There's no such thing as perfect and we are all beautiful in our own way!
Sure you might think you have a funny smile, but it's your funny smile and it's what makes you different from everyone else.

Our insecurities make us beautiful.

Sorry! I've had no internet!!

Handed in my essay! / Back to Uni :( / Mini haul! / Sid having sex with a rock...oo-er / New suitcase! / Hair's getting lighter / Night in with the dog / New Motel jeans / Cheeky takeaway

Apologies for lack of posting and also apologies to those who I've promised to send things to this week! My internet went off on Monday night to get changed to Sky but it didn't come back properly until this morning and we are still having problems with it - so I'm behind and going to be behind on a lot of things/blogging/sending stuff out/emailing for the next week or so! I'll try to get on top of things but it's a pain the ass when my internet keeps going off every 10 seconds!!

I've also been super busy this week with a few essay deadlines and such. Also today is the 3rd anniversary of my friend's suicide so I've been a bit on edge all day and have refused to go into Uni. Blah.

Anyways, I'll sort myself out and get myself organised as soon as possible!

Hope you're all good x

Max Factor Colour Adapt Foundation

I'm not going to have the internet for a few days so I'm doing an extra post today! I recently invested in Max Factor's Colour Adapt Foundation. I'd never ever tried a Max Factor foundation ever in my life, but I'd heard great things, especially regarding the coverage. I like a thick coverage because I think I have yucky skin and recently the foundations I've bought have been significantly lacking.

I bought the foundation in #40 Creamy Ivory. This was the lightest of the shades and in the store looked a little yellowy, but I thought HEY LET'S GIVE IT A GO.

From the Max Factor website:

Don’t Mask Your True Colours. Match them.
Your skin isn’t the same colour all over so why use a foundation that is? Colour Adapt flatters and works with every shade of your face to create the most natural looking base ever. The secret? Clever colour adapting particles pick up and reflect the different pigments in your complexion to give a totally sheer look without masking your skin’s true radiance.

Well..my skin has no radiance so any added radiance I thought would be a plus!!

The product itself is packaged brilliantly. Plain and simple, just what you want, sophisticated even. It has a little push top to dispense the foundation too which is always a great help.

The foundation comes out nicely. It's a lovely creamy texture which on my skin lightens when rubbed in. When on my face the foundation makes my skin look flawless. It is a very high coverage foundation and even now after 3 hours of wearing it I can still feeling how thick the foundation is on my face. I personally like this, but I know a lot of girls don't. It's a very matte foundation too, and I really like it.

Here's a picture of my face with only the foundation on (don't laugh - I look like a mong without full makeup). I personally really like it and how thick it is. Lovely.

Brilliant product and would recommend to anyone!

The Body Shop's Wild Rose Hand Cream

I got this for Christmas and only decided to open the box last night. I'm a big fan of hand-creams and I love how they make my skin feel and smell so I was quite excited when I remembered that I'd been given this!

Body Shop's Wild Rose Hand Cream comes in a lovely pink box with a nail file which I think is a super cute touch. The bottle it comes in reminds me of something from a home hair dye kit. But still it looks nice and quite pricey - which I like.

The cream itself I'm not sure that I actually like. I love roses but anything that claims they smell of roses always disappoints me, I thought it smelled like dead roses to be honest. Not the nicest of smells but I put it on anyways. The cream is super thick and well - creamy. It's also slightly pink in colour. It rubs well into the skin but like I said, the smell became too overwhelming for me and I had to take it off.

Even after I'd taken it off it still had this lingering smell and when I ate I could taste it all over my hands. Not nice. I've never experienced that with a hand cream before. So overall I wouldn't personally purchase this again for myself and neither would I buy it for anybody else!

Disappointed :(
