January Motel Picks!

This month Motel have seriously upped their game. I am a massive fan of their clothing normally anyway but I'm really, REALLY loving some of the things they have added to their website recently. I am absolutely obsessed with both of the jumpsuits that I've featured here, they are gorgeous and though I'm unsure of whether I could pull them off, I'd like to give it a try! One of my favourite items has to be the fluffy pink mini dress - it looks so warm and cosy but also would look amazing if worn on a night out with some heels. It's very on trend and I reckon it would suit most of us ladies! I'm also a big fan of the red satin slip dress though I'm not sure I would ever be able to wear it outside of my house as it looks a little like something I'd wear for bed. I've noticed that babydoll dresses are really taking over the Motelrocks website too which is great because they are my one true love in life!

See anything you fancy? What are you loving from Motel this month?

Don't forget you can get a huge, massive, whopping 20% off anything on the Motelrocks website by using the code MINICHIMP2001 at the checkout.

Montagne Jeunesse White Chocolate Cleansing Masque

I have been a massive fan of Montage Jeunesse's mud masks for years. They are the sort of things my Mum would buy me for a girlie night in when I was a tweenager. Whilst in Tesco the other day I decided to pick one up, because they were only 99p and I wanted to treat myself.

I decided on the white chocolate masque because well YUM. I love a bit of white chocolate. The product itself smells delicious, almost good enough to eat - although I wouldn't recommend that because this is not a food product (hahaha). The instructions say to apply this to dry skin, then wait 15 minutes and relax. Boy, did I relax. I relaxed so much that I forgot about the chocolatey mess on my face and left it on for an hour - whoops.

When I removed the mask I found that my skin felt so soft and clean. It was such a lovely treat to give my skin in this cold weather! My skin felt extremely healthy and smooth.

Superdrug's Exfoliating Face Mask - Superberry Mud Mask

Over the last few weeks I have had awfully dry, sore skin. It's been red and horrible and peely. Every day I have awoken to bright red skin and it's been horrible. I asked around on every single social network I had available to me and nobody could give me a good product to use to get rid of this sore, dead skin. A lot of people said to exfoliate and use moisturiser often, which is what I was doing, but it wasn't working. I finally gave in and went to Superdrug to pick up some E45 cream but on my way to the skin creme aisle I saw this lifesaving beauty.

This product contains strawberry extract, raspberry seeds and china clay. It promises to exfoliate skin, protect it from free radicals and absorb excess oils from the skin surface. It's a typical mud mask formula with a generous dose of exfoliating beads scattered through it.

I started with a slightly wet face and applied the mask. Rubbing the mask around my face activated the exfoliating beads and after about 5 minutes the mask began to harden on my face. You're meant to leave this on for about 10 minutes, but I left it on for about half an hour just to be safe. I really wanted it to work, I really needed it to improve my skin! Once I was ready to remove it, I did so with warm water and a tea-towel.

And I noticed the difference immediately. After just ONE use, my sore, dry and red skin was gone. In it's place was soft and smooth skin worthy of a babies bottom! The exfoliating beads did a fantastic job of removing the dead skin whilst the mask rehydrated my face.

I was absolutely amazed by this mud mask. It's such a cheap product (around £2.99 - if that) and it works incredibly well. It's becoming a part of my daily routine now to use this and it's made such an improvement on my skin. I really couldn't recommend it enough!

Shopping Addiction?!

There is no doubt in my mind that now I am working my spending habbits are becoming...well a bit erratic. I can't even pass town without thinking "oh I need to buy a new shirt" or "oh I'm going out on Friday so I need a new lippie" - not want, but need. This isn't even everything I've bought this week, I'm still waiting for a package from sheinside.com which has my gorgeous new coat and a Sailor Moon vest in it. I hope it comes tomorrow, I really do.

I bought the polka dot shirt from New Look for £14.99. I'm becoming a bit polka dot obsessed, I guess there are worst things you could be addicted to! I'm planning on wearing this shirt on Saturday night when I go to see The Heartbreaks in Manchester. I specifically bought this shirt because it's very similar to the shirt that the lead singer of The Heartbreaks is wearing in their new music video (check it out here) expect that mine's black and his is white. I thought about getting the white one but it would be a see-through disaster in a dark room with lights so I'm being practical.

Whilst at New Look I also picked up a pair of Super Soft, Super Skinny jeans. These jeans are gorgeous and something that I've been looking for for such a long time! They are a lovely colour and they fit perfectly. Plus, I fit in a size 8 which is great and makes me feel like a skinny minnie. Usually I find it hard to squeeze my bum into a size 10-12. I've definitely lost some weight now that I'm no longer on the pill (TMI I know - but it just shows the effect it can have on your body! By the way, I came off of it because of the effects it was having on my mental health, my relationship is still wonderful and fantastic and full of love.)

Lastly I ordered the "You Can't Sit With Us" t-shirt on EBAY for £6.99. I bought it as a joke, because sometimes (or all the time) when I am drunk and with my friends, people we don't like sit with us and we all get like "YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US" because we think we are from Mean Girls and well...now I don't have to say it, people can just read my...chest.

Topshop Lipstick in Wicked

Yet another Topshop lipstick review (you can read Peach Sundae and Rio Rio by clicking the links). This time I am reviewing Wicked!

Wicked is a lot darker in the bullet than it is whilst on the lips so don't let how dark it looks put you off! This is a gorgeous wine shade which is extremely close to Mac's Rebel (honestly, they are pretty much exactly the same). This lipstick is very vampy and definitely a staple for Autumn or the grunge trend.

As with all Topshop lipsticks that I have reviewed recently, Wicked has a wonderful moisturising formula. The quality of these lipsticks is just fantastic and I've said before that they remind me a lot of Mac lippies, which I completely stand by. I find that with darker lipsticks they seem to dry out a lot quicker than lighter ones - I don't know why, they just do - but Wicked doesn't dry out at all and it also stays put all day! It doesn't feather or need touching up much which is fantastic for such a dark shade. This is such a cute colour and if you are looking for something like Mac's Rebel but aren't wanting to pay the hefty £15 price tag then this is the lipstick for you!

Wicked is selling at all big Topshops and online for £8.

(Temporarily removed the lip swatch as when I looked at this post on my phone the colour looked nothing like it does in real life so I will update with a better swatch in the morning x)

Oooh I got a fringe!

(my face looks a bit bizarre here but OH WELL)
Today is literally the first time in over a year I've had my hair cut properly. I decided to get a few long, choppy layers and a fringe. I don't know how I feel about the fringe at the moment, one minute I like it, the next I don't - so how long I'll keep it as a full fringe is undetermained. I'm sure it'll be back into a side fringe by the end of next week!

I feel great now I've had a hair cut! It's amazing how good it can make you feel. Also I'm loving how my hair has done some sort of natural ombre here! The ginger is fading at the ends and it looks so nice!

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara

I don't enjoy writing negative reviews but I feel so conned by the advert for Rimmel's Scandal Eyes Retro Glam Mascara that I have no choice.

Rimmel states that this mascara: has a hour-glass brush shaped to the lash line to plump lashes, fanning them up and out for bold, wide-eyed volume.Coats lashes individually for a big, false lash look in one simple stroke. No clumps!

Wrong. Unfortunately I found that this mascara left me with a lot of clumps, this is because I had to really coat it on to get any sort of eyelash transformation. Even after 3 coats I couldn't see any change in the length or thickness of my eyelashes. They just looked slightly blacker and a hell of a lot heavier. Then came the clumps. There was no false eyelash effect, just clumpy thick lashes that felt heavy and made me feel ever so slightly dizzy. Another thing that I found with this mascara is that the product dried too quickly on my lashes and would shed during the day. I'm not one to mess with my mascara but I found myself having to pull it off at work because it was annoying me so much. This dry formula felt horrible on my eyes and left a mess all over my face by the end of the day.

I've seen so many great reviews for this mascara but I really don't understand why. I've never hated a mascara so much in my life. Safe to say, it's now in the bin. I'm disappointed to say the least and expected more from Rimmel, but after all I guess this is a relatively cheap mascara.

Max Factor FaceFinity Foundation

Oh god, I cannot contain my excitement. I have finally found my holy grail foundation, and I want to shout my love for it from the top of the highest building! I've been flirting with different foundations for a while but I've never truly found the one. I got pretty close with Max Factors Whipped Creme Foundation but when I finally finished the bottle, I wanted to try something new. That's when I picked up Max Factors FaceFinity All Day Flawless 3-in-1 Foundation (what a mouth full!)

Max Factor claims that this foundation holds like a primer, corrects like a concealer and has the long lasting finish of a liquid foundation with SPF 20. This means that this foundation basically does everything you need and want it to without the hassle of going out and buying primer and a matching concealer.

The foundation comes in a lovely, sleek 30ml bottle which has a handy but standard pump at the top to dispense the product. It's the perfect size for sticking in your makeup bag or travel bag! I chose the shade 40 Light Ivory, because we all know that I am paler than Caspar The Friendly Ghost. This is pretty much my perfect shade and probably the closest that a foundation has ever come to my actual skintone! (see photo below for evidence!)

The overall coverage is between medium to high, depending on how much of the product you use. It's really great at covering those dark circles I've acquired under my eyes (due to Uni work and working all the bloody time at Waterstones!) I don't have to use any concealer at all which is super handy and means it takes a lot less time in a morning to get ready. A quite surprising but fantastic fact about this foundation is that when applied and dried it is completely matte! I love a good matte foundation as I think it provides the perfect base for other makeup so I was so happy when I saw the finish on my face. It doesn't make my skin dry or cakey, it just makes my skin look so good and so flawless.

Another amazing thing about FaceFinity is that my foundation stays in place for 7+ hours without the use of a setting powder. It didn't clog my pours, or melt off after a few hours, it didn't become caky or dry my skin out. All it did was make my face look as good as it could! It really does exactly what it says on the packaging and it does help your skin stay flawless all day!

If you fancy giving this foundation a try you can buy it from all good drugstores for £9.99 ALTHOUGH saying that I noticed when I went into Superdrug a few days ago that this is now on offer and is only £7.99 - so bag a bargain whilst you can!

Topshop Lipstick in Peach Sundae

Another beautiful lipstick from Topshop. A few days ago I reviewed Rio Rio and later this week I will be reviewing Wicked - what can I say, I just love Topshop lippies!

Peach Sundae is one of my favourite nude lipsticks of all time. It's got very subtle peach undertones which I think would suit most skintones. This is a great lipstick for wearing when you aren't bothered about a full face of makeup because it's such a natural shade, I have been wearing this with minimal makeup to create a fresh-faced look. As with Rio Rio, the formula is very creamy and smooth, it doesn't dry the lips out but instead moisturises! I've found that it lasts pretty much all day but comes off extremely easily if you're eating or drinking a lot, so this is definitely a lipstick that you'd need to keep with you at all times for touch-ups. That's the only disappointment about this lipstick, I just wish it had more staying power!

I do love this lipstick though, and I know it would look great during the Spring months! It is currently selling at £8 in all bigger Topshop stores and online!

Small Primark Haul

Oooh I love a cheeky Primark shop! I didn't get too much this time, I've realised that I can't keep spending money the way I have been. I definitely need to go on some sort of spending ban because it's just ridiculous. I have absolutely no idea where I am going to put these new clothes. Never mind! You can never have too many clothes!

I am absolutely in love with these collared crop shirts, both are gorgeous and are so easy to wear with pretty much everything! And I really couldn't say no to the love heart skirt, it's insanely cute. I need to stop buying things just because they are cute.

On another, slightly more depressing note. My BRAND SPANKING NEW £400 laptop has broken, two weeks after I purchased it. So once again I am lacking in a laptop whilst it goes off to get fixed. So posts will once again be less regular but I'll be trying to get at least one or two posts out every week on my Mum's laptop until mine returns to me. Sob sob sob.

Topshop Lipstick In Rio Rio

Everyone knows how much I love lipstick and everyone knows how much I love Topshop and Topshop makeup. I've made absolutely no secret of my love! So today I'm reviewing my new favourite lipstick, Rio Rio from Topshop.

Rio Rio is a beautiful red shade with orange undertones, but it's definitely more on the red side. It's a great in-between shade for those who want to try an orange shaded lipstick but are too much of a scaredy cat! It is a matte lipstick which is comparable to the quality of Mac matte lipsticks - the formula is gorgeous, it's so creamy and soft. I feel a common misconception with matte lipsticks is that it will be super drying on your lips, but as this is a lipstick of quality so it's actually really moisturising. It's also extremely pigmented so it makes your lips really stand out. Another plus is that this lipstick lasts absolutely ages on the lips, today I've worn it literally all day and I've had barely any rub-off. It also doesn't seem to feather much and is an absolute dream to wear!

I think this would suit most skin-tones. I must say,  really like the way it looks against my pale skin and orange hair. So if I can pull it off being this pale, then so can you!

If you want to pick up this lipstick you can get it at any good Topshop store or online for the bargain price of £8!

New Year, New Hair!

New year, new hair! I am now a lovely gingery-orange colour and I couldn't be happier! I've wanted to be a part of the ginger club for such a long time but never had the guts. (Yes I am dressed as Scooby Doo on the above photo hahaha)

To get this colour I used Loreal Paris' Sublime Mousse in shade 740 Flaming Copper. This gave me a gorgeous light, bright orange colour. I absolutely loved this hair dye, I seriously think that mousse dyes are 100 times better than liquid dyes. It was so easy to apply and I had absolutely loads of product left over to make sure my hair was completely covered, you definitely get more product in mousse dyes! It also gave an all-over even finish and looks completely professional. Loads of people asked me if I'd had it done dyed at a salon!

I'm so happy with my new colour, it makes me feel like such a fiery red-head.
