[Guest Post] Moisture Renew Lipstick - Let's Get Naked

Hiiiiii girls (and the occasional boy!). My name's Laura and I blog over at L is for Ladybird. Most of you will have clicked on this post expecting Jane and I'm sorry to disappoint but she's away sunning herself, and while I'm super jealous, I'm also super happy to be gatecrashing her blog so I can be a little poptart for the day.

Anyway, you lovely bunch, I decided to do a little post on something which is very close to my heart- NUDES! Oo-er.

Up until about six months ago, nude lipsticks were the bane of my life. I had just about resigned myself to the fact that I was only ever going to be a bold lip wearer. Everything was too brown, too peach, too pink or just outright too concealer lips and it was only by chance that I stumbled across my perfect nude after falling in love with the formulation of Rimmel's Moisture Renew Lipsticks and doing the usual Laura thing of liking something in one colour so insisting on buying it in all other shades. Anyone else do that? I'm talking lipsticks, eyeshadows, t shirts, the works.

So, after buying every single colour in the Moisture Renew range bar about two, I decided that I should probably try them all out rather than just having them sitting in my stupidly large lipstick collection never to see the light of day again and after going all out one night with a smokey eye, I wanted something really neutral on the lips and a quick sift of my nudes (all three of them) saw me come out with Let's Get Naked; a perfect mix between a pink, peach and brown nude. I don't want to use the phrase 'your lips but better' because it's not but I don't think nudes necessarily have to have that quality to them.

I'd say that Let's Get Naked is predominantly pink based shade but it's not like "BAM I'M PINK!" because of the very slight brown and peach tones. Do correct me if I'm wrong because I don't have a degree in lipstick obviously, but this is just how it shows up on my lips.

If you weren't already sold on the colour alone, the formulation of this lipstick, and the whole range, is beautiful. They're very silky and don't dry your lips out at all. They also smell like old lady soap, which I love. I find it so cute and comforting somehow.

I find with Let's Get Naked, that it does actually leave a slight stain to the lips if you've been eating or drinking and the lipstick itself has come off. That said, it does stand up pretty well in the longevity department, even when eating and drinking, and it's £6.49!

And that's it girls, I am all over Let's Get Naked and will be all year round, what about you?

Tina's Big Fat Greek Going Away Party

Something a little different today! A lifestyle post (okay not that different, but hey at least it isn't another blog post on lipstick). My lovely wonderful best friend Tina is leaving us for two months to work in Greece so what better way to celebrate her achievement (and her leaving haha) than having a Greek themed leaving party!

I cannot express how much fun it was. How everybody really went with the Greek theme, it was amazing to see everyone just proper going for it. We played Beer Olympics and we were all overly competitive. Fun was had all around. It was a great party and worth all the stress and money it cost Tina (hahaha).

Cocoa Brown One Hour Tan In Dark

A month or two back I wrote a review on Cocoa Brown's 1 hour tan and much to my disappointment it didn't really work on me. I was really upset because it had worked so well for pretty much everyone else in the world but me, so with this in mind I decided to pick up the DARK version just to see if it would make a difference. You can read my original review here.

Cocoa Brown One Hour Tan is a new tanning product on the market which claims to give you "beautifully bronzed, radiant skin in just 1 hour". It also uses vegetable derived DHA (the active ingredient in self-tanners) and no parabens so is kind to sensitive skin. There are no nasty ingredients in this tanner - which also means no nasty smells.

The main thing I noticed is that the darker shade did make a difference on my skin. Where with the original tan I for some reason or another got no pay-off after 3 hours, with the dark tan I got a gorgeous colour after only 2 hours! I didn't even have to leave it on long before I started to see the colour and I was so, so happy with it. The colour lasts just over a week with moisturising and regular washes which is so good considering a lot of tans wear off so quickly.

Like the original tan, Cocoa Brown in Dark has a wonderful floral scent. Non of this smelly biscuity-ness that everyone hates but has to put up with when fake tanning. It dries quickly but I did find that it was quite sticky for an hour or so afterwards which was super annoying and I felt like I couldn't touch anything. Cocoa Brown boast that you don't need to leave this tan on for more than 3 hours, which I would completely agree with, especially if you are as naturally pale as I am. All Cocoa Brown products contain tan accelerating ingredients which is meant to give you a rich brown tan in just 1 hour.

After 2 hours I washed it off to reveal an amazing coloured tan. Not orange in any way, just extremely brown. It definitely looked like I had been on holiday for two weeks! Everyone was impressed with how lovely it looked and I got a few jealous comments as well. Fantastic.

Just for good measure I thought I'd include a photo from last weekend after I'd been wearing my tan for three or four days. I've now been using this tan every week since I bought it just over a month ago and I've had four applications and I'm just coming to the end of the bottle!

You can get Cocoa Brown One Hour Tan In Dark in Boots, Superdrug and Primark for only £6.99. I really recommend that you pick this up! It's amazing and I'm so happy with it and my lovely gorgeous tan.

Imperial Leather Foamburst *

First things first, these are PR samples!

I felt insanely excited when these babies arrived with the postman a week or two ago. I was so excited after reading the PR email about Imperial Leather's Foamburst body washes that I just had to try them! The packaging looked so pretty, I have never seen a body wash like this before in my life.

Imperial Leather Foamburst (the two that I was sent came in Sweet Vanilla & Cherry Blossom and Rebalancing Green Tea & Jasmine) was relaunched last year with brand new, sleek packaging. This is a product that has been around for a while and it's a product with a lot of hype around it.  The new packaging is a far cry from the white, reds and golds of the old Imperial Leather and instead comes in a gorgeous black bottle with colourful patterns all over it. The bottles are now in an appropriate hourglass shape which somewhat resemble us ladies' bodies. It's all very feminine and pretty.

Whilst looking a lot more sleek, the functionality of the product remains pretty much the same. Each bottle has a aerosol top, which can be pressed down to emit a little shower gel. When touched with water the body wash magically transforms from a smooth gel to a wonderful burst of foam. The foam is actually amazing and something I've never really seen before outside of shaving gels. It looks a lot like a shaving gel to begin with but it smells like heaven! Both of the body washes smell gorgeous and are so strong! The foam is so luxurious, I'm actually obsessed with it and I've been using this product every day. It's certainly replaced my old and boring Tesco's own shower gel.

I'd highly recommend that you try Foamburst if you haven't already! It's such a unique beauty product and one with a fashionable new look. It's also really cheap to buy (which we all know I like, nothing better than a good bargain) and is priced at around £3 depending on where you shop!

Seventeen Miracle Matte Pressed Powder

I need to get over Seventeen but there are just so many wonderful products and I want to buy them all! Everyone knows that I adore the matte look so in celebration of this I bought another matte product - Seventeen's Miracle Matte Pressed Powder (what a mouthful!) Sorry about the photograph of this product, hahaha it's so mucky because it had been in my makeup bag for a grand total of an hour...

I decided on the shade "Nude" which is the second lightest shade. Seventeen boast that this will leave you with a matte flawless finish with up to 16 hours shine control. It's completely oil free which is great for someone like me with combination skin. When I took this to the counter to buy it all I could think of is how great this would be on holiday when I'm all sweaty and gross.

The powder comes in cute black packaging. Its a compact case which includes a mirror and a soft applicator - none of which I have so far used as I prefer to apply my makeup in my big bedroom mirror with a brush, but I can see this being extremely handy if I was going out or away for a few days and had no mirror on me.

It really does deliver that matte promise and it makes my skin feel so soft. It's such a light powder that it doesn't even feel like you're wearing it! It doesn't go all cakey and dry after a few hours either, it's a really fantastic formula. The shine control on this product is amazing as well! I don't wear makeup for 16 hours a day but I can assure you that I've gone a good 8-10 hours with this on and have had no shine or sweaty marks seeping through.

I cannot express how much I love this powder. It's definitely one of the best powders I've ever tried and it was only £3.99 at Boots! Can anyone say "bargain"?

Seventeen Mirror Shine Lipstick In LA

I'm sorry if it seems that all I'm reviewing at the moment is lip products, I'm just on a total lipstick kick right now and it's literally all I've been buying. My obsession is getting out of control! Today's lip product is Seventeen's Mirro Shine Lipstick in LA.

I'm not usually a fan of sheer lipsticks. In fact I think that this is the first and only one that I own. My main loves in life are matte lippies and highly pigmented ones, so this for me is a complete change (and shock) but the colour was far too pretty to pass up. I just had to have it.

L.A is a stunning orangey-red shade, it looks extremely orange in the bullet but once swatched it turns into such a gorgeous, wearable shade. It offers a beautiful but bright colour that needs very minimum maintenance through-out the day. The formula is lovely as well, it glides on easily and leaves a super glossy slick of colour behind. You really don't need more than one layer of this lipstick and I found that it barely needed touching up during the 6 hours that I wore it. Plus because of it's glossy nature it felt extremely hydrating on the lip and super moisturising which is such a nice change since I'm used to matte lipsticks that tend to dry my lips out.

Something that I loved about this lipstick was that in the packaging you get a tiny little mirror! How adorable and so handy. This lippie really lives up to its Mirror Shine name and I absolutely love it. Have you tried any of Seventeen's Mirror Shine lipsticks? What did you think? Do you like this one?

Soap & Glory Super-Colour Sexy Mother Pucker - Lip Plumping Gloss

All I want in life is lips like Angelina Jolie's. Her lips are to die for, so plump and big and gorgeous. Urgh. Life just isn't fair, why did I have to be born with teeny tiny horrible lips?

With that in mind, the other day whilst I was doing my weekly wander around town I decided to pick up Soap & Glory's famous lip plumping gloss - Sexy Mother Pucker. The name is so cheeky, I love it! Soap & Glory say that this gloss uses lipswell natural plant oil infusion and superfill volume making microspheres to give you that perfect plumped up look. I have no idea what either of those things are but they sounded great and extremely promising.

I picked up the clear version although there are quite a few colours to choose from. It's basically just a normal lip gloss that uses this "special" technology to create an almost "I've just had my lips stung by a bee" look which is achieved by irritating the lips until they swell. The packaging for this product is adorable, which is something I find with all Soap & Glory products. They're just so pretty and girly.

When I put this gloss onto my lips it of course stung a little bit. It sort of feels like pins and needles but it isn't unpleasant. The stinging lasts a good 10-15 minutes, but even after the stinging stopped I didn't see too much of a difference. My lips were slightly fuller and seemed to be less creased but it wasn't something that was instantly noticeable and I began to wonder why I'd bothered to sit through 15 minutes of stinging for barely any results. The gloss does make your lips extremely shiney, which I guess also helps to create a fuller lip look.

One thing I didn't really like about this gloss (aside from the fact that it barely worked) was that it was super super sticky. It reminds me of those cheap lipglosses you used to get in magazines as a kid. Cheap and sticky and not pleasant at all.

This is something that I probably wouldn't buy again, it just doesn't do what it promises and it's only redeeming feature is how cute the packaging is. I guess I'll have to live without having sexy plump lips forever. How sad.

Holiday Primark Haul

More things for my holiday! I am SO excited, it's ridiculous. I picked up quite a few bargains in this haul and I am really happy with my purchases. I am especially in love with the blue play-suit, it's so cute and is so comfy and light. I can see me wanting to wear it loads whilst on holiday and when the sun is shining in England (a rare occasion I know!) I also picked up a little makeup bag to take abroad with me. I'm hoping it fits all my stuff into it!

Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer

Makeup Revolution have become one of my favourite brands. High quality makeup for amazingly cheap prices. Today I'm going to be reviewing their Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer in the shade in "Fall In Love".

I am obsessed with lacquers at the moment, especially those that dry matte. I love everything matte! This lacquer really reminds me of the MUA and Topshop lacquers in that it's extremely pigmented with a thick and creamy formula. It dries into a matte finish almost instantly and it feels so lovely on the lips. The applicator brush is a pretty standard lip-gloss brush, it's easy to work with and allows you to get a precise application. "Fall In Love" is a very bright pink shade that isn't for the faint hearted. I love this colour though and think it looks amazing if worn on a night out when you've got your whole night out face painted on!

The longevity is also so amazing. Once this is applied it doesn't budge at all. I applied this before a night out on the town and spent the night drinking and eating, but 6 hours later the colour was still present on my lips. It's absolutely fantastic. I cannot praise it enough.

Makeup Revolutions Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquers are priced at £3.00 which is fantastic when you think you can pay up to £10 for these from a more established drug store brand (I'm thinking Max Factor Lipfinity here). There are 7 different shades, which all look absolutely gorgeous and I'm definitely going to pick up some more. I'm so chuffed with this product so make sure that you check Makeup Revolution out!

Don't forget to get involved in my MAC lipstick giveaway! It's almost over!

Enza Sandals From LaModa

Ooooh look at my new sandals that I bought from LaModa - aren't they gorgeous? I bought these for my upcoming holiday in Lanzarote (but I've already worn them once to the pub, you have to wear them in...obviously). I'm really chuffed with these and they were so, so cheap at only £22. So much cheaper than buying from Topshop or Riverisland. Perfect for summer and almost identical to our best selling Erika sandal, our Enza platform sandals have a buckle strap fastening combined with this season's must have - the cleated sole. They are made from high quality faux leather, have a super cute buckle fastener, have a 3 inch heel and a cleated soul. So pretty. Plus these bad boys are limited edition!

You can get them here! Don't forget that I'm still holding my MAC lipstick giveaway - click here to enter!
