Forever 21 Gladiator Sandals!

I just wanted to share with you my newest purchase! Gladiator sandals from Forever 21! These little beauts were £16.95 which I think is super affordable for sandals like this! Everywhere I have looked, sandals like this are over £25 which sucks when you are on a budget, so I when I found these and realised how perfect they would be for my jolly holidays I was so, so happy!

They also had these in a brown colour, with red and yellow straps which were really nice and I might go back and buy them closer to my holidays - you can never have too many pairs of holiday sandals!

John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner

Today I am reviewing John Frieda's Full Repair Deep Conditioner! I bought this on sale at Asda for £4 (whoohoo sale items!) but I believe it's normal retail price is around £5.99. This is a product I've wanted for a long time as I'm always trying new conditioners and repair masks for my god awful hair. I just want it to feel nice and to grow, that isn't a lot to ask!

From the John Frieda Website

Intense repairing formula, with lightweight Incha Inchi Oil, penetrates deep and repairs the look and feel of overstyled hair, reducing the risk of breakage. Damaged hair becomes silky and full. Safe for colour-treated and chemically-treated hair.

Sounds exciting right? This conditioner promises healthier hair and that's what I need!

Okay, so first off. The packaging is lovely. For a none-salon brand, this really looks like a professional more expensive product. I absolutely adore the frosted window effect, it just looks lovely. I'm really impressed with the packaging and it's something I'd be proud to show off in my bathroom (how sad). There is a full range of Full Repair products which I am considering investing in which all use the same red and white frosted theme.

The actual product itself looks like a typical conditioner. It's white, quite thin and runny. You get a lot of conditioner in the tub and to be honest I wasn't expecting it to be so full when I opened up the tub for the first time.

The back of the tub tells you to wash your hair with the Full Repair Shampoo and then use this conditioner and have it on your head for 5 minutes for best results, but instead I shampooed my hair with my normal shampoo and then used a normal conditioner. Once I'd rinsed it all out, I popped this on my head, rubbed it in and waited for a good 20-25 minutes before I rinsed it off. Personally I find the longer you keep a conditioner on, the better it works and the more it repairs.

I was a little bit disappointed that I didn't feel a difference straight away. With a lot of deep repair conditioners you can tell that you've used it straight after you've washed it out but I didn't find that with this one. To be honest, my hair still felt a bit dry and gritty the first time I used it but once I'd blow-dried and brushed my hair I could see a difference. My hair just looked nicer!

The second time I used this product I started to feel a difference in the quality of my hair, so I'm guessing the more you use it the better your hair becomes (but I'll keep you updated on that one!)

All in all, I'm quite happy with this and am excited to see just how my hair turns out once the tub is over and done with. I can already feel a change in my hair and for me that's really exciting! I just hope it helps it grow a bit too!

Darwen Music Live Festival

Down int North, there's not a lot going on for us to be honest, so once a year we all get together for the local festival in Darwen, get drunk on the streets and act like idiots.

This year was no different.

I apologise in advance for ALL of the stupid faces I am pulling. I can't be sensible - it's Darwen Live.

Chanel "Le Volume De Chanel" Mascara

I came home from Lancaster yesterday to find this lovely black package waiting for me on my bed. It was super exciting because I had no idea what it was and it was so cool to find out that I'd been sent a Chanel mascara! I love a good freebie! Especially a good, expensive freebie!

The mascara came inside a super cute little black box, which when opened has a little mirror in! The mascara is also little and black, with a lovely ... the only way I can describe this is ... pointy ... mascara brush.

From Chanel's Website

This high-precision mascara achieves instant volume and intensely lush colour in a single stroke. Its innovative formula expands, plumping lashes to their fullest. The exclusive new ‘Snowflakes’ brush combines long and short bristles to deliver an extreme, eye-opening effect.

I have tried this on but I've only been wearing it for an hour or so. So far it's really nice. It applied nicely and it has made my eyelashes seem massive which is an accomplishment since I have the smallest eyelashes ever. It's hasn't dried up or made my eyelashes feel sticky in any way and so far I'm really happy with it!

Chocolate & Vanilla Crumble Soap From The Bath Boutique

I wrote a post about The Bath Boutique a month or two ago as an advertisement for my friend Emily (click here to read) and now I'm actually getting to try the products myself! Woohoo!

I won this lovely Chocolate & Vanilla Crumble soap (I actually had the choice between this one and the Sherbet one but I am a sucker for the smell of chocolate) and received it yesterday whilst having a girls wine night at Emily's house.

The Bath Boutique is a company which produces hand-made soaps and bath bombs. They use all natural ingredients which is kinder to the skin in comparison to most soaps which use artificial ingredients - artificial ingredients can leave the skin feeling course and dry. Not nice.

About The Product

The main thing that I want to say is, that if I could eat this soap...I probably would. It really does smell like chocolate and vanilla! The soap is SO soft on the skin and makes me smell delicious afterwards. It's super moisturising and I definitely prefer it from other soaps I've used in the past! It reminds me a lot of something you could purchase at Lush but for half the price! It also weighs in at 100g so it's pretty big for a soap!

I really recommend that you take a quick look at The Bath Boutique. Their products range from £1 - £2, depending on what you buy and at what size and they have so many lovely products! There's so many to chose from including Raspberry Ripple and Lemon Zest - plus, you can never have too much soap!

Summer Aspirations

So it's "SUMMER", the end of the University year is at an end and well...it's the first week and I'm already bored. Not only that but I have over 15 weeks of doing nothing ahead of me and just the thought of it is making me want to cry. I know that I should get myself a job, but the thought is unappealing especially after working for 3 years straight before going to Uni. So what else am I meant to do?

So here I am, trying to write a list of things I want to do for the next 15 weeks and let me tell you, it's hard! So if you have any suggestions PLEASE comment and help me!

Here's what I've got so far:

  • Get more into cake baking and decorating - I love to bake cakes, in fact, being in the kitchen is pretty much one of my favourite places to be. I love creating new ideas and trying out new things and I figured over the Summer I could take it one step further. I find myself starring at cake designs daily now, I'm not sure whether this is from hunger or obsession but either way it's something to be excited about and it's also creative and takes up time. PERFECT! If I get any good I might ever share my recipes with you!
  • Meet Laura and hopefully go to at least one blogger meet up - I've been chatting to Laura (lisforladybird) for months now and hey, it's about time we met! So that's a definite aim, and also I'd be super interested in meeting a few more people from the blogger community. Whether that means I go to a meet up or you guys drop me an email and we can get chatting, either way, fantastic! I'm really interested in meeting like-minded people and maybe some new pallies!
  • Run the Relay For Life - Ever since my Nana passed away in October I've been wanting to do something to sort of give back. She died of Cancer and spent most of the end of her life in a hospice so raising money for St Catherines Hospice would be amazing and also running the Relay For Life also means that I'm giving money for research into cancer!
  • Work hard on my Uni Summer Project - I'm saying that I don't have much to do during the holidays but I do actually have to do a Summer Project for University which helps with my grades for next year. I'm not sure what the project is yet as our briefing is tomorrow morning but once I know I am going to put my heart and soul into it. I want at least a 2:1 next year so the more work I do, the better grade I'll get.
  • Start a Youtube account - I want to do this more because it'll be super fun but I'm still a bit camera shy. I'd really like to start a beauty and lifestyle Youtube account! Although, I don't know how you'd all feel about listening to my overly Northern accent wittering on about lipstick all the time hahaha, but we'll see!
So okay, it's not a lot yet. But like I said, if you have any cool suggestions for these holidays that would be great. And if you're doing anything interesting I'd like to know about that then I can sit here, being bored and jealous of you!

Illamasqua Paranormal Collection

You may or may not know that this week Illamasqua brought out their Paranormal Collection. For me Illamasqua is one of those brands where I wish I could own every single one of their products. And this new collection is the exactly the same for me - if not more so, because I am...an alien girl. Not that I'm an alien (I'm not insane), it's just...I really like the idea of aliens and I watch episode after episode of Ancient Aliens and well yeah. I'm a geek. Anyways...this collection is basically perfect and I want to own EVERYTHING especailly the lippies and the UV nail varnishes!

“The Paranormal collection was inspired by unbridled kinetic energy, spectral light and transcendental emotional forces. The things we can’t explain, that we can only feel, the place between dreams and reality; the door of perception is open and is beckoning you through, step into the light!” — Creative Director, Alex Box

Here's a look at what they have to offer:

Lipsticks in Posture & Esp - both matte finishes - £16.50 each
I REALLY want Esp, it's such a lovely shade of purple!

Paranormal Palette - £34
"This unique water-resistant eye shadow can't quite decide if it's a cream or powder. Instead it combines the best of both worlds, delivering the textured silky appearance of a powder, but with the deep colour wash of a cream."

Gleam in Supernatural - Warm Bronze - £18

UV Nail Varnishes in Seance, Ouija, Omen & Geist - £15 each apart from Geist which is £13

Hydra Veil - £27
"Create a radiant finish with Hydra Veil's instantly rehydrating, gel formula. Providing the optimal base for your make-up, apply before foundation with an Illamasqua Brush."

An absolutely fantastic collection I'm sure you'll agree! I'm definitely going to be saving my pennies for the lipsticks and how cool would UV nail-varnish be for a night out?
